Student FEUP
Formula Student is one of the world’s most prestigious engineering competitions, where university teams from around the globe are challenged to design, manufacture, and compete with innovative race cars, with a strong focus on electric and autonomous mobility technologies. This event offers students a unique hands-on experience, applying theoretical knowledge to real-world projects, that mirror the current challenges of the automotive industry.
This year, the FEUP team revealed the FS FEUP 02, their first autonomous prototype developed over two years and composed of several parts produced in close collaboration with top-tier industrial partners, including AMOB. This partnership involved the manufacturing of key components crucial to the vehicle’s performance and reliability, showcasing AMOB’s technical capabilities and production quality.
“Contributing to a project of this scale and complexity is a source of pride for AMOB. We are fully committed to innovation and technological development in Portugal, and this type of partnership highlights the importance of bringing together academy and industry to train the engineers of tomorrow,” says Jorge Costa, Industrial Director at AMOB Group.
The FS FEUP 02 is more than just a race car, it’s a mobile laboratory that incorporates cutting-edge technologies in electric and autonomous vehicles, designed to compete in major European competitions. The project highlights the high level of technical expertise and creativity of Portuguese students, positioning Portugal as a reference in innovative automotive engineering.
For AMOB, this partnership also reinforces its commitment to sustainability, technological innovation, and social responsibility, by supporting initiatives that promote education, talent, and the growth of the national industrial sector.
The Formula Student FEUP team continues to grow in both size and ambition, with around 80 students from various disciplines collaborating in an interdisciplinary effort to make the project a success.
