AMOB delivers mammoth hydraulic press to local company

The customer’s brief – for a machine that would press aluminium panels into door facias – was fairly simple, but a bespoke machine was required nonetheless. AMOB’s made-to-measure machinery department were fortunately on hand to design, develop, manufacture and test a solution that exceeded the client’s expectations.

AMOB’s in-house engineers calculated that the customer’s application needed 500 tonnes of pressure to perform the calculation. To future-proof the machine, they decided to produce a 600 tonne capacity press – to allow the customer to take on any larger press work should they be asked to. On top of that, they incorporated an NC controller for extra precision and repeatability.

The design team also developed specialist tooling that would press the aluminium without marking it in any way – another critical requirement from this particular customer.
